Ansel (Julius) is born in Russia.

With his parents, Julius Ansel emigrates to Boston in 1910, grows up in Dorchester, and serves in the U.S. infantry in World War II. He returns to Boston, marries Lillian Karp and moves to 22 Wales Street. A colorful character and talented mimic, he becomes secretary to Mayor James Michael Curley, serves on the Boston City Council (1948-52), Massachusetts House of Representatives (1953-1957 and 1959-1964), runs for mayor in 1963, and serves in the Massachusetts Senate (1965). Ansel dies of a heart attack in Boston on March 13, 1965. More than 3,000 people attend his funeral at Temple Agudas Israel, and he is buried in King Solomon Memorial Park in West Roxbury.
